So I haven't been on my blog for awhile now...
I was pretty sick this summer and quit my internet stuff with every intention of returning. Then when I felt better I hit a nebulous roadblock about re-engaging with my internet life. I guess I felt like I was relying too much on the internet for interaction, entertainment, and lifestyle substance. I kept thinking that if I reconnected with my internet life I might get sick all over again. Then I happened upon a piece of Chelsea Handler's show the other night:
"...a diary?! Who has a diary anymore, it's called a blog!"
It was at that point that I decided I wanted to come back to my life on the internet. Something that simple. But I want it to be different. I still want to rant and rave and say outrageous and funny things. But I no longer want to get booted off of the sites I enjoy(ed) the most, such as digg and the Dirty Jobs Message Boards (DJMB). Yes, I still have a major crush on Mike Rowe, much as I would like to distance myself from it. He has awesome man boobs. An mantastic mantabulous manrack.
Incidentally, I'm back on digg (BigMacsMom), but the bummer is that our internet filter at work makes it impossible for me to post comments and give thumbs up or down. I can, however, still vote for or bury stories at work. I'll have to get on the 'puter at home if I want to comment. I've missed digg. After getting booted off three times, I'm pretty sure they don't miss me.
I'm also back on DJMB, again under an assumed "alias" (honkeykat). Just posted a comment about bed bugs and dead skin.
I love to walk the line between extreme obnoxious-ness and downright insults. I can't even begin to express how much I love being a smart ass But here's where I get tripped up. I let myself get upset when I get booted for boorish behavior.
I want to do more than "share" stories. I want to write. I want to read what others have written. I want to give my internet friends a heads up on information and articles that I find interesting. I also want to be "heard" (read).
As for relying too much on the internet for human connection...I think I'm on my way to remedying that. I've been making a concerted effort to spend more time with my family...movies, dinners, phone calls, etc. So far it's been good.
So it's time for me to get back to work on blog maintenance! Maybe not today, but defnintely this weekend.
